Ilektra Platiopoulou

mezzo-soprano

Born in Thessaloniki (Greece), Ilektra began her musical studies with the piano in 1992.

In 2002 , she began to train as a soprano with the Neo V. Tsampali Conservatory in Thessaloniki and made her professional debut at the Opera the following year, with the role of Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.

In 2003, she begins a musicology course at Thessaloniki’s Aristotle University and receives her master’s degree in 2009.

In 2004, she was admitted to the Schola Cantorum in Basel alongside Rosa Dominguez and Andreas Scholl. Her curriculum in the Early Music Department allows her to work with professors such as Evelyn Tubb, Andrea Marcon, Anthony Rooley, Jörg Andreas Boetticher, Rudolf Lutz and many others. She received her early music master in 2009 and the following year joined the class of Marcel Boone at the Music Academy of Basel to deepen their technical skills and vocal repertoire.

In same year, she is also a semifinalist of the Cesti competition in Innsbruck (Austria).

With the support of the opera academy network ENOA, she participated in May 2014 in the home of the Academy of the National Opera of Poland (Warsaw), and in October of the same year at the Rossini residence of the Gulbenkian Foundation Lisbon.
As a soloist and member of the Vocal Ensemble of the Schola Cantorum in Basel she gives concerts in Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy and Greece under the direction of conductors such that Andrea Marcon, Mark Foster and Jörg Andreas Boetticher.

She sings the part of Virtu in The Coronation of Poppea by Claudio Monteverdi at the National Opera of Athens (Athens Festival in 2011, Head : Mr. Chryssikos , directed by A. Papadamaki) and the same year, roles of Love and Phrygian in Rameau’s Dardanus in Liverpool and Limerick (European Opera Center, Head : L. Pillot , directed by B. Rozet).

She also sang the role of Apollo in the cantata Il Parnasso in Festa by Georg Friedrich Händel under the direction of Andrea Marcon. Also with Andrea Marcon, she was Elvida in the opera by Alessandro Scarlatti Penelope Casta, directed by Manfred Weiss.
In 2013, she gave a recital of Spanish Songs of Manuel De Falla, with the National Orchestra of Basel and then performs a 1-month tour in Japan as a soloist.

The year 2014 was very important for her career, with notably her first title role (The Child) in The Child and the Spells of Ravel at the National Opera of Basel. That same year she was also selected for the role of Lucilla (La Scala di Seta Gioacchino Rossini) as part of the Rossini Residence of the prestigious Academy of Lyric Art Festival of Aix en Provence.

Her year is completed by numerous solo recitals with pianist Edward Rushton (Zurich , Basel, Bussy-le-Grand, etc .. ), several concerts of the Mass in C by Mozart Concert with The Hostel God, as well as concerts with the Agamemnon Ensemble.

In 2010, she participates in the recording of The Passions with the vocal ensemble Schola Cantorum (Glossa) .
